I had a few questions about purchasing Patriot America Plus. Can I purchase the policy for a duration of 1 week and then extend it for 5 months? Since the policy covers preexisting conditions do I need a pre-approval checkup? I also wanted to know if there are any insurance plans that cover general checkup and doctor visits.

Yes, you can purchase the plan for one week and then extend. There is actually no plan on the market for visitors that will cover pre-existing conditions. Plans will cover any new illness or injury that occur after the effective date and some plans include the Acute Onset benefit. There is no check-up required to purchase a plan.
When you say general checkup are you referring to a well exam? If so, there is no plans available for visitors that will cover that except for the Safe Travels plans that offer $75 /safe-travel-insurance/wellness-visit/ if all of the conditions are met. The cost of a well exam is much more than the benefit provided. The plans will cover doctor visits for a covered illness or injury.
